Roof worker sues construction company over fall from ladder

A roof worker is suing a construction company after he fell off a ladder and broke both his ankles.

Jeff Davis filed a lawsuit Feb. 18 in the District Court of Jefferson County against Construction Zone of Southeast Texas LLC, citing negligence.

The lawsuit states that Davis was working for Perkins Roofing on June 17, 2013, on a renovation project for the Market Basket Grocery Store in Groves with Construction Zone as the general contractor.

According to the suit, Davis alleges a forklift with loaded with insulation moved too fast and the insulation fell and damaged a customer's car windshield.

Allegedly, Construction Zone supervisors pushed all other workers to get off site before the police came because the company was in violation of several work safety codes, the complaint said.

Davis claims it was in those moments that he was coming down a ladder and fell because he was rushed and didn't tie the ladder down properly, the complaint said.

Davis is seeking a judgment determined by the court, pre and post-judgment interest, plus court costs.

He is represented by Anthony Malley III of the Malley Law Firm P.L.L.C.
