A Port Arthur man is suing another driver over a January auto collision.
Nelson Sandino and his wife are suing Alfred Smith and Derrick Locket in the Jefferson County District Court. The lawsuit, filed on Feb. 18, accuses Alfred Smith of driving negligently and causing the accident.
According to the complaint, on Jan. 13, Sandino was driving in the 1200 block of Gulfway Drive in Port Arthur. Sandino claims Alfred Smith was driving too fast, crossed the center line and crashed into his vehicle.
Sandino alleges Smith was driving recklessly and he is suing for negligence.
Sandino is also suing Derrick Locket for allowing Smith to drive his vehicle. Sandino claims Locket's behavior amounts to negligent entrustment.
Sandino is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages.
He is being represented by attorney Darren Brown of the Provost Umphrey Law Firm PLLC in Beaumont.
