Tank worker sues oil and gas company after being injured

An Alabama man is suing after being injured while working on an oil and gas tank.


Jeff Overton filed a lawsuit Feb. 21 in the Marshall Division of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas against Bluestone Natural Resources LLC, Bluestone Natural Resources II LLC, Bluestone Natural Resources Holdings II LLC and Buccaneer Energy Co., citing negligence and gross negligence. 

The complaint states on Feb. 23, 2013, Overton was injured while working on a oil and gas tank owned by Bluestone at a location owned by Buccaneer Energy.

According to the lawsuit, the defendants were negligent for failing to act as a reasonably prudent person, failing to provide a safe work environment, failing to properly maintain equipment, failing to protect the plaintiff from work hazards and failing to implement safety policies.

Overton is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum.

The plaintiff is being represented in the case by attorneys Benton G. Ross and Douglas C. Monsour of The Monsour Law Firm.
