John Crane sues EDI Downhole Pumps for soliciting employees, customers

A Texas corporation is facing suit after allegedly committing numerous tortious acts.


John Crane Group Corp. filed a lawsuit March 14 in the Tyler Division of the United States Court for the Eastern District of Texas against Energy Devices of Texas Inc., doing business as EDI Downhole Pumps & Supplies. 

The suit cites tortious interference with prospective business relations, employment relationships, contractual relations, misappropriation/disclosure of confidential information, conspiracy and aiding and abetting.

The complaint states the John Crane and EDI are competitors in the pump shop business. The plaintiff alleges EDI wrongfully solicited John Crane's employees to come work for EDI. In addition, the plaintiff states EDI solicited John Crane customers.

As a result of the defendant's actions, the plaintiff has suffered economic and non-economic damages, according to the complaint.

John Crane Group is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.

The plaintiff is being represented in the case by Ron Manthey and Erin O'Driscoll of Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLC in Dallas.
