Man struck by heavy object falling two stories; files lawsuit

A Jefferson County man is suing over claims he sustained injuries after a heavy object was dropped on him.

Michael LaFley filed a lawsuit March 13 in Jefferson County District Court against Wilson Warehouse Company of Texas, citing negligence.

LaFley claims on March 18, 2012, he was discussing work procedures with the defendant at a property in Beaumont, when he was struck by a heavy object that was dropped more than two stories onto his shoulder and neck.

The suit alleges the defendant was not using proper safety precautions while working on the property, resulting in LaFley getting injured.

LaFley is seeking damages in the amount of the jurisdictional minimum, interest and court costs.

He is being represented in the case by Beaumont attorney Brett S. Thomas of Roebuck, Thomas, Roebuck and Adams.
