City of Waller sued by former police officers

 Two former police officers for the city of Waller are suing the city after allegedly being terminated for reporting wrongdoing.


Sebastian Chavez filed a lawsuit March 20 in the Galveston County Court against the city of Waller, citing violation of the Texas Whistleblower Act. 



Charles Edwards also filed a lawsuit March 20 in the Galveston County Court against the city of Waller, citing violation of the Texas Whistleblower Act.


Chavez states he was employed as a police officer for the city of Waller for 30 years.


On Nov. 25, Chavez was terminated from his position after reporting an alleged violation of law by a city employee, according to the complaint.


In his suit, Edwards states he was employed as a Waller police officer for 21 years. He also claims that he was terminated on Nov. 25 for reporting an alleged wrongdoing.


The plaintiffs are seeking actual damages, reinstatement, compensatory damages, interest, cost and fees.


The plaintiffs are being represented in the case by attorney Gregory B. Cagle of Cagle & McCumber.
