Wal-Mart named in lawsuit after woman's wheelchair collapses

Henderson County couple is suing Wal-Mart after the wife was allegedly injured when her wheelchair collapsed.

Sheri "Rene" Templeton and James Russel Templeton filed a lawsuit March 25 in the Marshall Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Wal-Mart Real Estate Business Trust, Wal-Mart Stores Texas LLC, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Wal-Mart TRS LLC, citing negligence and liability.

The plaintiffs claim Sheri Templeton was shopping at Wal-Mart in Henderson County on May 22, 2012, when her wheelchair capsized as a result of a drop off on Wal-Mart's property.

The suit alleges the area was too narrow and wasn't properly marked, resulting in Sheri's fall and injuries.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages, interest, attorney's fees and court costs.

They are being represented by Texas attorneys Blake Bailey and C.D. Cowan.
