A woman out to enjoy a boat ride is suing the boat owner after her leg became trapped between the boat and the dock.
Mary Ann Emerson filed a lawsuit March 25 in the Galveston County District Court against Charles Toliver, citing negligence.
The lawsuit states Emerson was among three people that Toliver took out boating on June 17, 2012. Emerson alleges Toliver improperly secured the boat to the dock when he returned and Emerson’s left leg sustained injuries when it was caught between the boat in and the dock when she attempted to disembark, the complaint said.
Emerson is seeking damages between $100,000 and $500,000, which includes actual damages, interest, plus court costs.
She is being represented by Jeffrey W. Steidley of the Steidley Law Firm.
