A Jefferson County woman is suing over claims the construction company she hired to build a home constructed a much smaller version than specified in the contract.
Beverly B. Stewart filed a lawsuit March 28 in the Jefferson County District Court against Camellia Homes Inc., citing breach of contract.
According to the complaint, on March 29, 2012, Stewart and her late husband contracted Camellia Homes to construct a house on their property on Toledo Street in Beaumont for $170,700.
Stewart says the product Camellia Homes constructed was a smaller, shrunken version of the structure in the plans and specifications.
Camellia Homes is accused of breach of contract, common law fraud, statutory fraud, violating the Residential Construction Liability Act, negligence, breach of warranty.
Stewart is seeking more than $200,000 in damages.
She is being represented in the case by Beaumont attorney Daniel D. Clayton.
