Mother, two daughters injured in car accident, lawsuit results

A Port Arthur resident is sued after causing a motor vehicle collision on Jimmy Johnson Boulevard.

Shamimben N. Karovalia, individually and next friend for Saniza Karovalia and Silmi Karovalia, filed a lawsuit April 1 in the Jefferson County District Court against Mezbin Momin, citing negligence and negligence per se. 

The complaint states Shamimben N. Karovalia was driving in the 3900 block of Jimmy Johnson Boulevard on April 3, 2012, when the defendant made an improper lane change and struck the plaintiff's vehicle.

Shamimben N. Karovalia states her two children, Saniza Karovalia and Silmi Karovalia, were riding in the vehicle when the accident occurred. The plaintiffs were injured in the accident, according to the complaint.

The plaintiffs are seeking an undisclosed amount in damages.

They are being represented in the case by attorney Zulfiqar N. Prasla of Prasla Law Firm PLLC.
