Kody Petroleum sued for delinquent property taxes

A local school district filed suit to collect more than $100,000 in unpaid property taxes.


Hardin-Jefferson Independent School District filed a lawsuit April 2 in the Jefferson County Court against Kody Petroleum Co. Inc. 

The complaint states Kody Petroleum is delinquent on property taxes due to the plaintiff. The total amount due in April 2014 is $126,829.64, according to the complaint.

The plaintiff is seeking foreclosure of the tax lien, statutory penalties, interest, costs and fees.

Hardin-Jefferson Independent School District is being represented in the case by attorneys Shelburne J. Veselka and Keith Treadway of McCreary, Veselka, Bragg & Allen PC.
