Hotel Galvez sued after deliverymen injured on collapsing stairs

Two beer distributors are suing over claims they were injured when stairs collapsed during a delivery of beer to a Galveston hotel. 


Robert Castro and Jeremiah Flores filed a lawsuit April 7 in the Galveston County District Court against The Hotel Galvez and Eighteen Seventy Strand Corporation doing business as The Hotel Galvez, citing negligence.


According to the complaint, Castro and Flores were delivering beer to the Hotel Galvez on Seawall Boulevard for Dienst Distributing Co. on April 26, 2013, when the exterior stairs collapsed, injuring the plaintiffs.


The defendants are accused of negligence in maintaining the premises.


Castro and Flores are seeking more than $50,000 in damages.


They are being represented in the case by attorney John S. Powell.
