Beaumont man sued after allegedly refusing to pay student loan

A student loan company is suing a Beaumont man for refusing to pay his loan.


SLM Education Credit Finance Corp. filed a lawsuit April 3 in the Jefferson County District Court against Larry D. Wells, citing breach of contract. 

The plaintiff claims Wells incurred a student loan for his education at the Art Institute of Houston.

According to the complaint, Wells stopped making payments on his loan.

The suit alleges the plaintiff sent a letter to Wells on Aug. 1, demanding he pay the loan in full, in the amount of $12,824.29. However, the plaintiff claims it has not received any payments.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in an amount of $12,824.29, interest, attorney's fees and court costs.

It is being represented in the case by Carrollton attorney Michael J. Scott of Scott Parnell and Associates PC.
