T & Y Seafood sued after employee flips company truck, injuring coworker

A Bexar County man is suing over claims he was injured as a passenger when a coworker flipped their employer's vehicle.


Alfonso Moreno filed a lawsuit April 1 in the Jefferson County District Court against T&Y Seafood Wholesale LLC and William Nguyen, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Moreno was a passenger in a vehicle owned by T&Y Seafood being driven by coworker Nguyen, in the scope of their employment on June 18. Allegedly, Nguyen took a corner too fast on Highway 82 in Port Arthur, causing the vehicle to flip and injuring the plaintiff.

Moreno is seeking damages for medical expenses and lost wages in the amount of $150,000.

He is being represented in the case by attorneys David K. Mestemaker, Norman L. Straub and Jonathan B. Zumwalt of Mestemaker Straub & Zumwalt PLLC in Houston.
