Employee sues Bealls claiming age discrimination

A store manager is suing his employer alleging he was fired because of his age.


Steven Fluke filed a lawsuit May 22 in the Galveston County District Court against Bealls Corp., citing wrongful termination and age discrimination.


The lawsuit states Fluke was a district manager with the retail apparel and merchandise store for 17 months until his termination Aug. 27. 


His supervisor had been replaced during that time and Fluke claims the new supervisor favored younger district managers with regards to training, assessments and guidance, according to the complaint.


Fluke is seeking damages that include back pay, front pay, general damages, pre and post judgment interest, punitive damages, damages for mental pain and anguish, exemplary damages and court costs.


He is being represented by Gregg M. Rosenberg of Rosenberg & Sprovach.
