John Williams filed a lawsuit June 9 in the Jefferson County District Court against James Clem, citing negligence.

Williams claims he suffered injuries when his car was struck while traveling southbound of Eastex Freeway on May 14.

According to the complaint, the defendant was not paying attention to the traffic around him and failed to control his speed, resulting in the accident.

Williams is seeking damages, interest and court costs.

He is being represented in the case by Beaumont attorney David P. Wilson of Provost Umphrey Law Firm LLP.
