Man seeks various documents regarding benzene-related lawsuit

A man seeks subpoenas for a lawsuit he filed against Chevron.


Carl Nolan Smith III filed a motion for issuance of subpoenas to perpetuate testimony in out-of-state action against Chevron on July 21 in the Jefferson County District Court. 


In his motion, Smith is asking the court to issue subpoenas relating to a lawsuit filed in 2012 in Louisiana.


Smith filed the complaint against Chevron, claiming occupational exposure to benzene and benzene-containing products during the course of his career.


Smith is asking for records, including benzene-related training records provided by Industrial Safety Training Council, and documents regarding the payment of Smith’s medical costs held by IBEW-NECA Southwestern Health and Benefit Fund.


He is being represented by attorney Kirk E. Martin of WaldenReynard in Beaumont.
