Woman blames minor for rear-ending vehicle

A woman has filed suit against the minor she claims rear-ended the vehicle she was driving.

Suberno Collins filed suit July 25 in the Galveston County District Court against Madison T. Walser, individually and by and through her parents Jeannie U. Walser and Eric M. Walser.

According to the complaint, Collins was traveling west on State Highway 87 in Galveston on Oct. 13, when she stopped for a car in front of her that was making a turn. Subsequently, Madison Walser struck Collins's vehicle, according to the complaint.

Because of the collision, Collins suffered physical pain and mental anguish, physical disfigurement, lost earnings and incurred medical costs, the suit states.

Madison Walser negligently drove without paying attention, failed to control her speed, failed to steer to the right to avoid a collision, failed to apply her brakes to avoid a collision, failed to maintain a proper lookout and failed to yield the right-of-way, the complaint says.

Collins is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional amount.

She is being represented by attorney Jonathan S. Harris of Schechter, McElwee, Shaffer and Harris LLP in Houston.
