Texas City man accused of running stop sign, causing crash

A Galveston County woman alleges a Texas City man is responsible for a crash she says caused her car to overturn.

Ramona Benton filed a lawsuit against David Sanders on Aug. 19 in Galveston County District Court.

The alleged crash happened July 18, 2013, at the intersection of 55th Street and Avenue J. According to the complaint, Sanders "failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign" and crashed into Benton's vehicle.  Benton says the impact of the collision caused her car to overturn. She was "pinned in her vehicle suspended upside down," the lawsuit reads.

Benton accuses Sanders of negligence and seeks more than $100,0000 in damages for medical expenses, physical pain and mental anguish.

Attorney Kenneth D. McConnico, of Houston, represents Benton.

Galveston County District Court case number: 14-CV-0880.
