Man alleges injuries following rear-end collision

A man alleges he suffered spinal cord injuries after a driver rear-ended his vehicle.

Otis Stewart filed a lawsuit Aug. 29 in Jefferson County District Court against Jude Michael Vidrine.

In his complaint, Stewart alleges he was driving north in the middle lane of the 1800 block of North Highway 69 in Nederland on Dec. 11, 2013, when defendant Jude Michael Vidrine, who was driving in the same direction, failed to control his speed and struck the back of Stewart's vehicle.

In addition to his spinal cord injuries, Stewart incurred medical costs, experienced pain, suffering and mental anguish, and endured physical impairment, the suit states. He also lost wages, the complaint says.

In his complaint, Stewart blames Vidrine for causing the collision, saying he failed to control his speed, failed to maintain a proper lookout and failed to drive in a safe manner.

Stewart seeks an unspecified judgment, plus pre- and post-judgment interest at the highest rate allowed by law, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Attorney Tommy L. Yeates of Moore Landrey in Beaumont will represent Stewart.
