Explosion killed father, child says in lawsuit

The child of a recently deceased man alleges he died following an explosion at his workplace.

Karen Turcios, as next friend of a minor child, filed a lawsuit Sept. 22 in Galveston County District Court against PrecisionBlend.

Turcios alleges a minor child's father, William Washington, was working at PrecisionBlend on Sept. 11 when a cylinder exploded near him, causing his death.

Because of Washington's death, he incurred medical costs, experienced physical pain and mental anguish and endured physical impairment, according to the complaint. He also suffered disfigurement and lost wages, the suit states.

Washington's family lost his household services, advice, counsel, companionship and society and endured mental anguish, the complaint says.

In her complaint, Turcios seeks actual and exemplary damages, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Attorney Sean E. O'Rourke of Simon-O'Rourke in Houston will represent Turcois.
