Man blames employers Chevron, Texaco for his father's death

The son of a recently deceased man has filed suit against his father's employer, alleging the employer caused his dad's death.

Lloyd Alan Seegers alleges his father, Henry Lloyd Seegers, was working for defendants Chevron and Texaco at their Port Neches and Port Arthur facilities where he was exposed to toxic and carcinogenic benzene, according to a lawsuit filed Sept. 17 in Jefferson County District Court.

"As a result of such exposure, Henry Lloyd Seegers, developed multiple myeloma from which he died a painful and terrible death on April 2," the suit states.

Chevron and Texaco negligently failed to timely warn workers of the dangers of benzene and failed to take necessary engineering and other precautions to ensure workers were not exposed to benzene, the complaint says.

In his complaint, Lloyd Alan Seegers seeks exemplary and punitive damages, plus other relief the court deems just.

Attorney Darren L. Brown of Provost Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont will represent Seegers.
