Port Arthur wreck results in lawsuit

Two Jefferson County residents are suing over claims they were injured in a collision in Port Arthur.

Chad Rebert and Sasha Guerrero filed a lawsuit Sept. 26 in Jefferson County District Court against Julio Miranda-Lara, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Rebert was driving a vehicle in which Guerrero was a passenger in Port Arthur on May 18, when Miranda-Lara failed to yield right of way and changed lanes, striking Rebert's vehicle. The plaintiffs say they sustained injuries and the car sustained damage, and Miranda-Lara is accused of negligence in driving too fast, changing lanes when it was unsafe to do so and failing to properly control his vehicle and avoid a collision.

Rebert and Guerrero seek more than $200,000 in damages, including exemplary damages, medical expenses, property damage, loss of earnings and earning capacity, interest and costs of court. They are represented by attorney Justin G. Sanderson of Sanderson Law Firm in Beaumont.
