Woman running red light caused accident, suit says

A Galveston County woman is suing over claims she was injured in a collision at an intersection when a vehicle allegedly ran a red light.

Rosalva Ramirez filed a lawsuit Oct. 7 in the Galveston County District Court against Lauren Darnaver, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 4, 2013, Ramirez was driving southbound on Stewart Road through its intersection with 61st Street, when Darnaver, who was driving east on 61st Street, ran a red light and collided with the side of Ramirez's vehicle. The complaint states the force of the collision pushed Ramirez's vehicle into the vehicle that was driving parallel to it, and Ramirez sustained severe injuries. Darnaver is accused of negligence in running a red light, driving too fast and failing to take evasive action.

Ramirez seeks more than $100,000 in damages, including lost wages and lost earning capacity plus interest and costs of court. She is represented by attorneys Ryan Berchelmann and Justin Carlisle of the Law Office of Domingo Garcia in Houston.
