Woman sues driver who rear-ended her car

A woman alleges she suffered serious injuries after a driver rear-ended her vehicle.

Vulnaiva Campbell filed a lawsuit Sept. 19 in the Marshall Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Kaisha Strickland.

In her complaint, Campbell alleges she was stopped facing southbound on McCann Road and was waiting for a red light at Glencrest Drive in Longview on Nov. 22, 2013. Suddenly, Strickland, who was driving in the same direction, struck the back of Campbell's vehicle, according to the complaint.

Because of the collision, Campbell sustained serious bodily injuries, incurred medical costs and experienced physical pain and mental anguish, the suit states. She also suffered physical impairment, the complaint says.

Campbell blames Strickland for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to timely apply her brakes, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to pay attention, drove without regard for the safety of those around her, drove recklessly, failed to take evasive action and drove inconsistent with how a prudent person would drive.

In her complaint, Campbell seeks economic, non-economic and compensatory damages, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Attorney N. Eric Cooper of The Cooper Law Firm in Longview will represent Campbell.
