Victim of rear-end collision sues driver over damages

Galveston cty courthouse

A League City resident filed a lawsuit against an individual for liability in a 2014 roadway incident in Galveston County.

Omar Khosravi filed a grievance against James C. Humphries of Seabrook in Galveston County District Court on June 30, claiming vehicular negligence in January 2014.

The complaint states that Khosravi was operating his motor vehicle eastbound in the center lane of the Northwest Freeway in Kemah on Jan. 15, 2014, when his automobile was suddenly rear-ended by Humphries.

According to the suit, a police report purportedly stated that the defendant underestimated the speed at which he was traveling and therefore failed to apply his brakes safely “before slamming into the car in front.”

The suit states that defendant Humphries failed to keep a proper lookout, maintain a safe distance from the plaintiff’s vehicle, and drive at a proper rate of speed for the circumstances.

Khosravi asserts physical injuries resulted from the accident, leading to medical expenses, pain and suffering, physical impairment and loss of earnings.

The plaintiff seeks up to $100,000 in compensation for damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney’s fees, expenses and costs.

He is represented by John Green and Belinda Williams in Houston.

Galveston County District Court case number 15-CV-0662.
