Several health care providers have been non-suited from litigation brought by the family of a Jefferson County man whose death was allegedly caused by pressure ulcers sustained in a hospital.

Johnetta Londow, individually and as personal representative of the estate of Joseph Londow, deceased, Joetta Elizabeth Parker and Kathy Elaine Londow filed a lawsuit Nov. 6, 2014, in Jefferson County District Court against The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Senior Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center and Senior Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center Inc., citing wrongful death.

Court records show the plaintiffs filed a notice of non-suit on March 18, dismissing their claims against all defendants without prejudice.

According to the original complaint, on Sept. 11, 2012, Joseph Londow was admitted to The Medical Center of Southeast Texas after suffering a stroke, and due to the negligence of staff he subsequently developed pressure ulcers.

The complaint states Londow was transferred to a rehabilitation center but the pressure ulcers were so severe, he required another hospitalization at the defendant hospital before being moved Nov. 12, 2012, to the defendant rehabilitation center, where his ulcers worsened and contributed to his death by sepsis Jan. 10, 2013.

The plaintiffs are represented by attorney Craig Lewis of The Lewis Law Firm in Houston.
