Suit over wreck at MLK and I-10 settles before trial

Head on collision 300x225

A Fort Worth resident who sued after he was injured in a car accident has settled.

Bryan K. Green filed a lawsuit Jan. 3, 2014, in the Jefferson County District Court against Dudley T. Dent, citing negligence.

The case was set to go to trial July 27 but settled before a jury was selected, according to a courthouse official.

According to the complaint, on July 21, 2013, Green was injured in a motor vehicle collision when the defendant collided with the plaintiff at Martin Luther King Parkway and Interstate 10 in Beaumont.

The plaintiff contends the defendant ran a red light and failed to yield the right of way, which caused the collision.

The defendant was accused of negligence for failing to maintain a proper lookout, failing to apply the brakes, failing to maintain control of his vehicle, failing to avoid the collision, traveling at an unsafe speed and failing to maintain an adequate distance, according to the complaint.

Green was seeking an undisclosed amount of damages.

Attorney Maria Orozco is representing him in the case.
