Tyler woman sues Hospice of East Texas, alleging unpaid overtime

A Tyler woman is suing a Texas hospice center, alleging unpaid overtime wages.

Angela Black filed a lawsuit Aug. 13 in the Tyler Division of the Eastern District of Texas against The Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, alleging unpaid wages in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

According to the complaint, Hospice of Texas has not paid Black overtime wages for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week. The overtime wages rate is 1 1/2 times the regular hourly pay rate, as defined in the FLSA.

Black seeks to recover the unpaid wages, liquidated damages and injunctive relief, plus attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attorney Bob Whitehurst of Tyler.
