Texas man sues Schlumberger Technology, alleging unpaid overtime

Finances

A Texas man is suing oil and gas industry technology supplier Schlumberger, alleging unpaid overtime wages.

Matthew Belcher, individually and for all others similarly situated, filed a civil action lawsuit Aug. 21 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Schlumberger Technology Corporation, alleging unpaid overtime wages in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

During his employment as an oil field operator/supervisor with the defendant from May 2013 to January 2014, Belcher was paid a monthly salary and daily or job bonuses, despite regularly working more than 70 hours per week, according to the complaint. The suit says Belcher was not paid time-and-a-half for hours worked beyond 40 hours per week, in violation of the FLSA.

The lawsuit states other members of the class performed similar work and were paid similarly to Belcher.

Belcher and others in the class seek to recover unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, court costs and attorney fees. He is represented by attorney Josef F. Buenker of Houston.

Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas case number 4:15-cv-02429.
