A Lafourche Parish, La. man is suing his former employer, a Harris County oil drilling company, over claims of unpaid overtime wages.
Jean Eymard, individually and for all others similarly situated, filed a civil action complaint Aug. 22 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Halliburton Energy Services Inc., doing business as Sperry Drilling, alleging misclassification of measurement while drilling engineers (MWDs) as exempt from overtime.
The complaint alleges that during the time Eymard worked as an MWD for the defendant from December 2005 to February 2014, he was paid a base wage plus daily field pay.
Eymard and others in the collective regularly worked in excess of 80 hours over seven days a week, but were not paid time-and-a-half for hours worked beyond 40 hours per week because they were wrongfully classified as exempt from overtime pay.
Eymard and others in the collective seek to recover unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, and court costs and attorney fees. He is represented by Galvin B. Kennedy of Kennedy Hodges of Houston.
