Jefferson County woman blames Parkdale Mall for injuries in fall

Parkdalemall

A Jefferson County woman is suing a Beaumont shopping mall, alleging negligence for  injuries she says she sustained in a fall.

Gina Dickerson filed a lawsuit Oct. 26 in Jefferson County District Court against CBL/Parkdale Mall GP and Parkdale Mall, alleging negligence and gross negligence.

The complaint states on March 7, 2014, while on the premises of the Parkdale Mall in Beaumont, Dickerson tripped and stumbled on a mat that had been place in the path of mall shoppers.

The suit alleges the defendants were negligent in failing to provide a safe place to walk and shop, creating an unsafe condition on the premises, failing to guard from the hazard or barricade the mat, and other negligent or grossly negligent acts or omissions.

At the time, the suit says, Dickerson was several weeks post-lumbar surgery and was healing well when she tripped in the mall, causing her injuries, including to her hips and connective tissues between the hip and lumbar spine, to be re-aggravated.

Dickerson seeks actual and exemplary damages, plus court costs. She is represented by attorney Gilbert T. Adams III of Gilbert Adams Law Office in Beaumont.

Jefferson County District Court case number D-197741.
