Worker alleges Pilgrim's Pride negligence caused his injury

MARSHALL – An employee is suing a Mount Pleasant food company, alleging negligence for injuries he says he suffered when a co-worker ran him over with a large lift truck. 

Fernando Cassio and Eletrera Cassio, of Mount Pleasant ,filed a lawsuit Dec. 10 against Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation in the Marshall Division of the Eastern District of Texas alleging negligence and malice at the workplace.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 5, Fernando Cassio was injured when a co-worker at Pilgrim’s Pride operating a large lift truck, acted negligently and ran him over. The suit says the plaintiff suffered permanent and disabling injuries, and his wife suffered lost of consortium and companionship.

The Cassios seek punitive damages as well as pre-judgment and post-judgment interest, cost of court and any other relief to which they are entitled. They are represented by attorneys Jimmy M. Negem and Joe M. Worthington of Negem & Worthington in Tyler.
