BEAUMONT— A Harris County woman is suing a power service company, alleging it was responsible for the death of her friend.

Jossylnn Victorian, as next friend of Jade Saana Harris, a minor, and as sole representative of the estate of Jerel W. Harris, deceased, filed a lawsuit Jan. 6 in Jefferson County District Court against Tidal Power Services LLC and Cheniere Energy Inc., alleging wrongful death and gross negligence.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 9, Harris was on property of Cheniere Energy Inc., working on a generator in an attempt to restore electrical power. While working on the generator, the suit says, Harris was electrocuted, causing him excruciating pain and injuries which ultimately resulted in his death.

The suit says the death was directly related to the gross negligence of the defendant, who failed to warn the plaintiff of the risk.

Victorian seeks more than $5 million for the loss suffered, plus court costs. She is represented by attorney Andrew L. Drapkin of Houston.
