BEAUMONT— A woman is seeking damages for severe injuries she claims to have suffered in an automobile accident she alleges was due to the negligence of the other driver who purportedly ran a red light.
Keri Lyn Opie filed a complaint on Jan. 11 in the Jefferson County District Court against Ryan Michael McClelland alleging negligence.
According to the lawsuit, on Nov. 15, 2015, McClelland ran a red light in his vehicle and collided with the Opie's vehicle which resulted in her sustaining severe injuries. The suit states the incident was caused by the defendant and the plaintiff was at no fault.
The alleged negligence of the defendant includes, but is not limited to, failing to control speed or maintain proper awareness, failing to operate the vehicle in a safe manner and failing to yield the right of way.
Opie seeks damages for physical pain and mental anguish, disfigurement, physical impairment, lost wages, medical expenses and property damages. She is also seeking costs of suit.
