Galveston County woman alleges MCL Transport damaged mobile home

Mobilehomes

GALVESTON - A Galveston County woman is suing a transportation company, alleging it damaged her mobile home during a move.

Maria A. Ruiz filed a lawsuit Jan. 21 in Galveston County District Court against Empyreal Properties, doing business as MCL Transport, alleging breach of contract, negligence, gross negligence, negligent hiring and negligent entrustment.

The suit states on Sept. 25, MCL was moving Ruiz's mobile home on her lot in San Leon. The lawsuit states the defendant's employees caused damages to the mobile home, resulting in the home being a total loss. The employees left the scene and returned to San Antonio, the complaint says.

The suit alleges the home is not livable but MCL has not provided any relief to the plaintiff and her minor child.

Ruiz seeks monetary relief between $100,000 and $200,000, plus interests and court costs. She is represented by attorney Kenneth D. McConnico of Houston.
