BEAUMONT - A Port Arthur motorist is suing a Beaumont woman, alleging negligence for injuries she says she sustained in a vehicle collision.

Vivian Nguyen filed a lawsuit Jan. 19 in Jefferson County District Court against Kami R. Piron of Beaumont, alleging negligence.

The suit states on Sept. 4, 2014, Piron's vehicle struck the rear end of Nguyen's vehicle as the two were traveling southbound on Eastex Freeway. The lawsuit alleges Piron was negligent in failing to keep proper lookout, failing to maintain safe distance and other negligent acts or omissions.

As a result, the complaint states the plaintiff sustained neck and back injuries, for which she has incurred medical expenses, plus pain and suffering, impairment, loss of earnings and earning capacity, loss of consortium and parental consortium, mental anguish and fear of future disease or condition.

Nguyen seeks monetary relief of less than $100,000, including damages, penalties, costs, expenses, pre-judgment interest and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney James D. Chandler of Liberty.
