Plano man alleges collection agency placed erroneous debt on credit report

SHERMAN – A Plano man is suing a collection agency, alleging it ruined his credit by posting an erroneous debt on his credit report.

Jeffrey Thomas Rottman filed a lawsuit Jan. 29 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas against I.C. System Inc, alleging a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 17, 2014, Rottman filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition and on On Jan. 21, 2015, an order of discharge was entered into his bankruptcy case. According to the lawsuit, despite receiving notice of his discharge, I.C. System Inc. continued to send him multiple collection letters for AT&T U-verse.

  

The plaintiff says he later obtained an Experian credit report that showed that I.C. System was reporting an alleged debt to AT&T.

Rottman seeks damages of $1,000 as well as reasonable attorney fees and costs, plus a jury trial, He is represented by attorney Christopher M. Migliaccio of Allen Chern Law LLC in Dallas.
