BEAUMONT – A Jefferson County man is suing a former employer in an effort get out of a contractual work agreement.
Shawn Walker filed a lawsuit Feb. 24 in Jefferson County District Court against FloWorks International LLC, alleging he is not in violation of a work covenant.
According to the complaint, on May 16, 2012, Walker and FloWorks predecessor, Shale-Inland Holdings LLC, entered into a restrictive covenant agreement, which Walker ended in June 2015. Walker sought employment elsewhere and still, according to the lawsuit, has received letters from FloWorks expressing concerns that he is in violation of the covenant agreement.
The plaintiff alleges he is not in violation of the covenant agreement, believing it is over broad as to time, geographical area and scope.
Walker seeks monetary relief of up to $100,000, plus reasonable attorney fees. He is also asking that the court find the covenant agreement unenforceable.
