BEAUMONT — A Texas woman is suing a Port Arthur towing company, alleging their negligence caused her husband's death.

Deborah Gillies, individually and as independent administrator of the estate of Danny "Dan Gillies, and Derrick Gillies, Daniel Gillies, and Denise Vaughn, the children of Danny "Dan" Gillies, filed a lawsuit June 9 in Jefferson County District Court against Johnny's Wrecker Service, doing business Johnny's Towing & Recovery Inc., and Colt Brown, alleging negligence in failing to maintain the equipment they provide to their employees.

According to the complaint, on May 6, 2015, Danny "Dan" Gillies sustained serious physical injuries while performing his duties at work with an aerial lift, which resulted in his death. The plaintiff alleges the defendants allegedly negligently handled their aerial lift causing the fatal injuries to Gillies.

Deborah Gillies seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million interest, and any other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorney Curtis W. Leister of Reaud, Morgan & Quinn LLP in Beaumont.
