Susan Dillon filed suit against Papa John’s USA and Ronald Beavers on Nov. 14 in Jefferson County District Court, accusing the pizza maker of negligent entrustment.
According to the lawsuit, on Oct. 27 Dillon was traveling east on FM 365 when Beavers, who was a Papa John’s employee at the time, rear-ended her as she slowed down for a red light.
The force of the collision caused Dillon to slam into the vehicle in front of her, causing injuries to her neck, back and shoulder.
Beavers is accused of negligently failing to control his speed and maintain a proper lookout.
Papa John’s is faulted for entrusting its vehicle to an incompetent and reckless driver.
Dillon is suing for her past and future pain, mental anguish, medical expenses and impairment, plus court costs.
Beaumont attorney Cody Rees represents her.
Judge Kent Walston, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
