Two customers accuse resort business of deceptive practices

Law money 01

GALVESTON — A Bell County couple is suing a Dallas resorts marketing company, alleging fraudulent inducement and unconscionable business practices.

Casie Wadford and Arthur Wadford Jr. filed a lawsuit Nov. 10 in Galveston County District Court against Silverleaf Resorts Inc., alleging violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

According to the complaint, as a result of the defendant's acts and omissions, the Wadfords suffered non-economic and economic damages, including sums paid to the defendant of $30,810.40.

The plaintiffs allege Silverleaf Resorts made false and/or misleading statements regarding the nature of vacation properties in Taney County, Missouri, and in Galveston County, that the resale or transfer of the property interest was a near impossibility and that the value of the plaintiffs' equity would be substantially less than the associated costs.

The Wadfords seek trial by jury, judgment in amounts to be determined at trial, pre- and post-judgment interest and all other relief to which they are justly entitled. They are represented by attorney Cullan R. Britain of Waco.
