Judge Sanderson knocks out first trial, car wreck plaintiff lands $18K verdict

BEAUMONT – New District Judge Justin Sanderson, 60th Court, recently wrapped up his first trial, with a Southeast Texas jury awarding a car wreck plaintiff $18,227.42 in damages. 

Seeking more than $1 million in damages, Randall McKenney filed suit against Robert LeBlanc on April 27, 2015 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Nov. 15, 2013, McKenney was traveling east in the 300 block of I-10 when LeBlanc struck his vehicle from behind.

The case went to trial and ended on Jan. 17. Jurors found Leblanc’s negligence caused the collision.

McKenney was awarded $8,227.42 for his past medical expenses, $7,500 for his past physical pain and $2,500 for his past physical impairment, according to the charge of the court.

No damages were awarded for McKenney’s future physical pain, past mental anguish and future physical impairment.
