West Orange Cove ISD sued over bus crash

BEAUMONT – A lawsuit seeking up to $200,000 in damages has been brought against West Orange Cove Independent School District for a bus crash that happen two years ago.

Amy Hoosier, individually and on behalf of a minor, filed the suit March 22 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on March 31, 2015, the minor was a passenger on a WOCISD bus when the driver allegedly failed to yield the right of way when changing lanes, causing a crash with another vehicle.

Hoosier is suing for the minor’s future diminished earning capacity.

In addition to her own loss of parental consortium, she is also seeking damages for the minor’s past and future impairment, mental anguish and pain.

Beaumont attorney Jonathan Juhan represents them.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
