Midland residents Matthew and Dora Jorn filed the suit May 3 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs incurred a multitude of damages as a “result of an egregious and unprecedented failure to disclose and actively conceal a known defect in GM vehicles.”
Since 2000, GM has sold millions of vehicles worldwide that have a safety defect in which the vehicle’s ignition switch can inadvertently move from the “run” position to the “accessory” or “off” position during ordinary driving conditions, the suit states.
The plaintiffs are seeking more than $1 million in damages.
They are represented by Mitchell Toups, attorney for the Beaumont law firm Weller, Green, Toups & Terrell.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
