Man seeks more than $1 million in damages after injures at Baker Hughes well site

Oildrill 04

HOUSTON – A Duval County man employed by CC Forbes alleges he was injured at LaSalle oil well site because of unsafe working conditions.

Neri Quintanilla filed a complaint on June 21 in the Harris County District Court against Baker Hughes Inc., Baker Hughes Oilfield Operations LLC and Verdun Oil & Gas LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 10, he was severely injured while working at an oil well owned and controlled by the defendants. The suit states that unsecured tongs fell and struck the plaintiff, which caused him to fall several feet to the ground below the oil rig floor.

The plaintiff alleges he has suffered physical pain and mental anguish, lost earnings and medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds Baker Hughes Inc., Baker Hughes Oilfield Operations LLC and Verdun Oil & Gas LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to supervise the work being performed and failed to provide adequate safety policies and procedures.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other relief to which the court believes he is justly entitled. He is represented by Robert C. Hillard, Rudy Gonzales Jr. Catherine D. Tobin, John B. Martinez, Celeste Baltierra, Daniel Gonzales and Jessica J. Pritchett of Hillard Munoz Gonzales LLP in Corpus Christi.
