BEAUMONT – A Silsbee woman alleges that she was injured in a fall at a Beaumont Chuck E. Cheese's restaurant.

Kathy Merritt and Michael Merritt filed a complaint on June 20 in the Jefferson County District Court against CEC Entertainment Inc., doing business as Chuck E. Cheese's, and Parkdale Place LTD alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, on July 1, 2015, Kathy Merritt sustained injuries when she slipped and fell while stepping down from the curb at defendants' parking lot. The suit states an unreasonably dangerous accumulation of silt-like dirt and mud contributed to the fall. Her husband Michael Merritt alleges he suffered loss of consortium.

The plaintiffs hold CEC Entertainment Inc. and Parkdale Place LTD responsible because the defendants allegedly improperly designed the parking lot, which lacked proper drainage.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek monetary relief of more than $1 million and all other relief to which they are entitled. They are represented by Thomas J. Landry of The Ferguson Law Firm LLP in Beaumont.
