DALLAS – The president of the Texas Association of Consumer Lawyers was recently arrested for assaulting several people while apparently intoxicated.

The incident occurred Aug. 5 in the Bishop Arts District. Amy Witherite and her wife, Barbara, are accused on going on a violent rampage after a valet parked their Mercedes out view.

Amy Witherite, 50, is the current president of TACL, an organization founded in part by Houston attorney Steve Mostyn with the goal of funding political candidates that share member ideals.

According to a Dallas News article, witnesses described both women as drunk. Amy Witherite later said the incident was “fueled by alcohol.”

When the valet told Amy Witherite he would pull her Mercedes around, she punched him and then smashed a glass against another man’s face, according to the article.

Barbara Witherite also assaulted several individuals.

Amy Witherite was arrested on three counts of misdemeanor assault. Barbara Witherite was arrested on four counts of misdemeanor assault and one count of intervening with an emergency call, the article states.
