GALVESTON – A Montgomery County man alleges he was injured at a League City gym and is seeking damages of more than $1 million.

Paul Williams filed a complaint on Aug. 14 in the Galveston County District Court against Evogen LLC, doing business as Iron Den, Billy Jones and Jane Doe, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 28, 2016, after his personal training session with defendants, he experienced severe pain in his lower body. The day after, the suit states he was diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis, a condition caused when muscle cells rupture en masse and release their contents into the body.

The plaintiff holds Evogen LLC, Billy Jones and Jane Doe responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to assess and test his physical fitness to perform extreme exercises and failed to stop the exercise once signs of danger were present.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other further relief to which he may be justly entitled. He is represented by R. James Amaro and Matthew A. Elwell of The Amaro Law Firm in Houston.
