TYLER – A Deberry consumer claims a debt collector has harassed her with calls intended for another person.
Candis Hand filed a complaint on Sept. 7 in the Tyler Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Edward Sloan & Associates alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Texas Debt Collection Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges the defendant is attempting to collect a consumer debt that does not belong to her and despite her request to stop calling, defendant continues to make calls to her cellular telephone.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $1,000, attorneys’ fees, costs, expenses and disbursements and any other just and appropriate relief. She is represented by Michael S. Agruss of Agruss Law Firm LLC in Chicago, Illinois.
